Supplications for safe journeys and protection during travel
4 Duasسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqaliboon.
Glory be to Him who has subjected this (vehicle) for us, and we could never have done it by ourselves. And indeed, to our Lord we will surely return. This is the dua to recite when mounting any vehicle or beginning a journey.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ
Allahumma inna nas'aluka fee safarinaa hadhal-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-'amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin 'alayna safarana hadha watwi 'anna bu'dahu. Allahumma antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khaleefatu fil-ahl. Allahumma inni a'oodhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari wa ka'abatil-mandhari wa soo'il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahl.
O Allah, we ask You on this journey for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance. O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, from depressing sights, and from finding harm upon returning to my property and family.
اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ
Allahumma hawwin 'alayna safarana hadha watwi 'anna bu'dah.
O Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance for us. This concise dua can be recited as a shorter version during any journey.
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَالْوَلَدِ
Allahumma antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khaleefatu fil-ahl. Allahumma inni a'oodhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari wa ka'abatil-mandhari wa soo'il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahli wal-walad.
O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, from depressing sights, and from finding harm to property, family, and children upon returning.
