Supplications for entering the home and the mosque
4 Duasبِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا
Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna.
In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust. The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed that when entering one's home, one should mention Allah's name.
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik.
O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy. This is said upon entering the mosque, and when leaving the mosque one says: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik' (O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty).
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَافْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Allahumma-ghfir li dhunoobi waftah li abwaba rahmatik.
O Allah, forgive me my sins and open for me the gates of Your mercy. A variation of the dua for entering the mosque that includes seeking forgiveness.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Bismillah, was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasoolillah. Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik.
In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy. This is the comprehensive dua combining the basmalah, salawat upon the Prophet, and the dua for entering.
