Supplications to say before and after eating and drinking

4 Duas
1Before eating

Bismillah.

In the name of Allah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When any of you eats, let him mention the name of Allah. If he forgets to mention the name of Allah at the beginning, let him say: Bismillahi fi awwalihi wa akhirihi (In the name of Allah at its beginning and at its end).'

Abu Dawud 3767, At-Tirmidhi 1858
2After eating

Praise be to Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any strength or power on my part. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever says this after eating, his previous sins will be forgiven.

Abu Dawud 4023, At-Tirmidhi 3458
3Before eating

Allahumma barik lana feema razaqtana wa qina 'adhaban-nar.

O Allah, bless us in what You have provided for us and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. This is a comprehensive dua seeking barakah (blessings) in one's sustenance.

Ibn As-Sunni, Amal Al-Yawm wal-Laylah 282
4Before eating

Bismillahi wa 'ala barakatillah.

In the name of Allah and with the blessings of Allah. This is said when sitting down to eat, combining the basmalah with a request for Allah's blessings upon the food.

Abu Dawud 3767
